Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz (R,C-Oyster Bay) joined Sen. Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats), Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning), Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay, his colleagues in the Assembly and Senate as well as local road advocates on the Million Dollar Staircase in Albany earlier today. Their mission: to call on Gov. Hochul to increase funding in the state budget to properly fix and maintain local roads, bridges and culverts.

“It was amazing to see so many local advocates come out to Albany today to stand up for New York’s roadways,” said Blumencranz. “The back-and-forth debate between state and local officials on increasing funding for such programs as the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) has gone on for far too long. New Yorkers shouldn’t have to worry about neglected stretches of highway or potholes damaging their vehicles on daily commutes, nor should first responders have to worry about heavier emergency vehicles traveling safely over bridges or city streets. Enough is enough—local roads are essential, and we need the proper funding to support them.”
