Giglio: Reopening Of New York

Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C,I-Riverhead) is thrilled to report that a vast swathe of COVID-19 restrictions on New York’s economy will be lifted or significantly loosened effective May 19. Some of these regulations include a total lift of the capacity limit on many businesses including bars and restaurants, hair salons, gyms, offices, retail stores, museums, entertainment centers and theaters. The 6-foot social distancing rule, however, will remain unchanged until the CDC alters its recommendations.

“This is truly wonderful news out of Albany,” Giglio said. “We’ve all pulled through this together, struggled, and fought hard against the virus, and now we’re really seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Bringing people back to work and shaking the dark cloud that COVID has left across us all is a cause for celebration. But we still must be vigilant as we all reopen, keep our masks on and maintain social distancing, and very soon we’ll be through this horrible time.”
