Assembly Passes Civil Confinement Bill
Assemblyman Joe Giglio (R,I,C-Gowanda) today voted in favor of a civil confinement bill agreed upon last week by Governor Eliot Spitzer and lawmakers. Giglio hailed passage of the legislation as a landmark for public safety and children’s welfare.
“This bill is about the safety of children and families,” said Giglio. “For too many years it has been blocked in the Assembly because of partisan politics. I am proud to have voted for this bill, and to be a part of the conference that would not let this vitally important legislation fail.”
“I am hopeful that we can continue to reach agreement on issues that have divided this legislature and impeded progress. By setting aside partisanship and doing what is right for the people we represent, we can continue to pass laws to make New York a better place for everyone.”
