Blankenbush Awards Sam Grant to Russell Fire Department
Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C- Black River) through a State and Municipal (SAM) Facilities Grant was able to secure $50,000 for the Russell Fire Department. This grant was used to purchase repairs to their current station, specifically roof repairs, allowing it to be more proficient in its operations and ensure more robust public safety in Russell and the surrounding areas.
Blankenbush emphasized the importance of increased public safety measures, stating, “I prioritize and support our volunteer fire departments. They receive limited funding and whenever possible I work to secure the funding they need to continue to serve our rural communities. I am proud to have been able to provide this SAM grant funding to the Russell Fire Department.”
When asked about the SAM Grant, Chief of the Russell Fire Department Scott Cardinell had this to say, “Assemblyman Blankenbush has done an outstanding job when it comes to putting his communities first. This is not my first interaction with the Assemblyman, as he helped me years ago when I suffered from an injury and was at risk of being fired. He takes the job seriously and puts his constituents before all else. From all of us at the Russell Fire Department, we thank you.”
