Blankenbush Joins Assembly Minority Task Force to Unveil Anti-Human Trafficking Report
Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C-Black River) today commended the Assembly Minority Task Force on Human Trafficking's work and the announcement of its forthcoming report on efforts to combat human trafficking in New York state.
“As a father and a representative of New York state, I am appalled by the scourge of human trafficking that continues to threaten the safety of our communities,” said Blankenbush. “It is our responsibility to take swift, decisive action to not only punish traffickers but also to ensure survivors have the resources and support they need to rebuild their lives.”
The Task Force engaged with nearly 200 individuals statewide, including survivors of trafficking, law enforcement, prosecutors, social workers, educators and other anti-trafficking advocates. Through a series of regional events, the task force gathered invaluable input that informed the development of a comprehensive report, which includes a series of key recommendations and proposed new bills aimed at addressing the crisis of human trafficking.
“The insights and testimonies shared by those who have lived through the horrors of trafficking, as well as the professionals who work on the front lines of this issue, have been absolutely crucial in shaping these recommendations,” said Blankenbush. “This report offers a path forward with actionable steps that will help us protect victims, hold traffickers accountable, and prevent future exploitation.”
