Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush Receives U.S. Army Meritorious Public Service Medal on Fort Drum Day

Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C-Black River) was honored today at the New York State Capitol with the Department of the Army’s Meritorious Public Service Medal, one of the highest civilian honors bestowed by the United States Army, in recognition of his exceptional and unwavering dedication to Fort Drum and the soldiers, civilians, and families of the 10th Mountain Division.

The award, signed by Major General Scott Naumann, commanding general of the 10th Mountain Division, was presented during Fort Drum Day at the State Capitol. The certificate recognizes Assemblyman Blankenbush’s 16 years of service representing the 117th district in the New York State Assembly and his tireless support of Fort Drum, the United States Army Garrison, and the military community.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to receive this recognition from the United States Army and the 10th Mountain Division,’ said Blankenbush. ‘Fort Drum is the economic and cultural backbone of the North Country, and the men and women who serve there, along with their families, deserve every ounce of support we can give them. I am humbled by this honor.”

According to the award, Assemblyman Blankenbush’s support of the Army’s mission has been invaluable, and his personal understanding of selfless service has been deeply appreciated by the entire Fort Drum community. His commitment to the well-being and interests of the military-affiliated members of the 10th Mountain Division reflects great credit upon himself, Fort Drum and the Army.

As a Vietnam Veteran himself, Assemblyman Blankenbush has long championed the needs of active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families throughout his tenure in the Assembly.
