Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River) today expressed support for Gov. Cuomo’s fourth 2016 agenda proposal to raise the Personal Income Tax exemption for small businesses. Blankenbush emphasized that lowering taxes on small businesses is critical for job creation and stimulating the economy in New York State.

“For too long, our small businesses have suffered from burdensome taxes and layers upon layers of red tape,” said Blankenbush. “Just last year, my colleagues and I in the Assembly Minority Conference introduced sweeping legislation to cut taxes and regulations for our small businesses, and it was shamefully blocked by the Assembly Majority. I hope that this year we will act on these important measures and incorporate them into the state budget.

“I wish we took action on these proposals last year, but I’m encouraged that the governor is finally coming around and intends to lower the tax burden on small businesses in 2016. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our state, and it’s high time we create a more business-friendly climate so they can flourish.”
