“Yesterday, Gov. Cuomo held an hour long press-conference with upstate editorial boards. In this press conference, he admitted that downstate legislative leadership was looking to do away with upstate programs in order to use those funds for their own projects. This is nothing new to ears of an upstate legislator. What is most disheartening is that some of the upstate Assembly Majority legislators would actually go along with this plan just to satisfy their downstate leadership. If this doesn’t say puppet representative, then I’m not sure what will.
“We need to ensure that upstate’s needs are fairly represented. I was elected to bring forth the needs of my constituents and be their voice in Albany. My district will always be my number one priority. Maybe if some other upstate legislators felt the way I do, upstate programs wouldn’t be easy picking for their downstate leadership.”
