Blankenbush Dismayed At Another Weak Proposal
A statement from Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I,-Black River)
“Today, I voted in support of the Assembly’s rules reform resolution. This vote, however, was done with a grain of salt. The Assembly Majority failed once again to place any sort of pension forfeiture or term limit reforms in its proposal. After a year-long investigation from the ethics task force, they were either unable or unwilling to come up with any meaningful changes. The absence of these suggested reforms display the lack of desire the Assembly Majority has in making any real changes to the environment of Albany.
“These are simple changes the Assembly Minority Conference and I have pushed for years, yet the Assembly Majority is fearful of them. If you are an honest legislator and are in Albany to serve your constituents, you have no reason to fear pension forfeiture or term limits. The Assembly Majority’s recent rules reforms and ethics bills are weak; the people of New York should be able to hold their representatives responsible for wrongdoings.”
