Blankenbush Announces Citizen Preparedness Training

Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River) announced today that the 117th Assembly District will host a Citizen Preparedness Corps training class. This class will be held this Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Florence Volunteer Fire Department in Camden.

“I’m excited to have the Citizen Preparedness Corp come to our district and give our community training and information that could save lives,” said Blankenbush. “This program has been implemented across the state to great success and it is something that will benefit our residents immensely. After the flooding a few years back, this training could prove invaluable in the future.”

The Citizens Preparedness training provides individuals with information on how to better deal with both natural and man-made disasters. The Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Emergency Management has joined with the Office of Fire Prevention and Control, the New York National Guard, and the American Red Cross to provide New York’s residents with these free training courses. The program has held almost 2,000 training events to date.
