Blankenbush: Lateness Of Tax Freedom Day Highlights Burden On New Yorkers
A statement from Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River)
“Yesterday, New York became the 48th state to celebrate Tax Freedom Day in 2016. Tax Freedom Day marks the day when residents have earned enough money to cover their federal, state and local tax requirements. The fact that it takes 132 days of garnished wages from every individual and entity in New York State to cover the burden our residents must pay each year is indicative of how extensively we are taxed. Some members in the Assembly Majority, however, don’t feel we are taxed enough and continue to increase the bill through unjustifiable unfunded mandates. I will continue to work with my colleagues in the Assembly Minority Conference to keep New Yorkers hard earned money in their own pockets and out of the clutches of New York City fat cats.”
