Blankenbush: Assembly Majority Drags Its Feet On Heroin Epidemic
A statement from Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C,I-Black River)
“Today, the Senate released the findings of its Heroin and Opioid Addiction Task Force and voted on legislation that would ensure the state is actively combating the epidemic that has shaken the state. I applaud Sen. Griffo and his house for taking action on this growing problem, and restate my commitment to finding solutions to this devastating issue.
In January, the Assembly Minority Conference held seven statewide workshops to assess the disease and develop comprehensive legislation to cure it. However, the legislation was met with indifference by the Assembly Majority and even dismissed by the Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, Dick Gottfried. This is just another example of the Assembly Majority refusing to act on a key issue that is devastating our communities.”
