“This session, pension forfeiture and the heroin epidemic were two critical issues the Assembly Minority Conference focused on heavily. While the two bills passed by the legislature last week were weaker than I would have liked, each is a step forward for these issues. Stripping corrupt politicians of their taxpayer-funded pensions will allow the people of New York to hold officials accountable for their actions, and the measures to combat heroin and opioid abuse will give communities, families and individuals struggling with addiction much needed assistance.”
