Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) announced that she recently completed a month-long district tour to hear from Mohawk Valley residents about the issues that matter most to them.

“Town hall meetings help me connect directly with the people who live, work and raise their families here in the Mohawk Valley so that I can ensure our needs are addressed,” said Buttenschon. “I’m grateful to everyone who came out to share their concerns with me – my door will always be open.”

Buttenschon’s district tour included stops in the villages of Frankfort, New York Mills, Oriskany, Whitesboro and Yorkville, the towns of Floyd, Frankfort, Marcy and Whitestown and the cities of Rome and Utica. Buttenschon began each town hall meeting with a summary of the 2019-20 state budget before opening up the floor to hear from constituents, discussing issues including: funding for local governments, clean water initiatives, health care, education funding and school safety, government services, the opioid epidemic and taxes.

Additionally, each meeting had a representative from the Office of the New York State Comptroller to help residents look for unclaimed funds and a representative from the Department of Health’s Cancer Services Program to provide information about free screenings. Buttenschon noted that she is always available to meet with constituents so that she can focus on their priorities and get results for the Mohawk Valley.
