Urgent Need for Blood Donors: Assemblywoman Buttenschon Partners With American Red Cross to Host Community Blood Drive

Marcy, New York – Assemblywoman Buttenschon (D-Utica) will host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm at the Marcy Town Hall, 8801 Paul Becker Road, Marcy, NY.

For more information or to make an appointment to donate, sign up online at the American Red Cross Web site with sponsor code 'marcytown' or call 315-732-1055. You may also email parke@nyassembly.gov.

“Donating blood is such a powerful way to give back,” said Buttenschon. “Simply stated: donating blood saves lives. It could be the life of a stranger or someone you love. I urge our community members to consider donating. Let’s make sure our hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting, before an emergency happens.”

Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.

According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
