Walsh Presents Scotia Branch Library with $25,000 in State Funding

Kaela Wallman, the Youth Services Coordinator, was proud to demonstrate the new early literacy equipment which was purchased with the assistance of the state grant provided by Assemblywoman Walsh.
This morning, Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) joined Karen Bradley, Scotia Branch Library Director, Eric Trahan, Mohawk Valley Library System Director and Schenectady County Public Library Trustees at the Scotia Branch Library. Walsh presented the library with $25,000 in state bullet aid, which is being used to help fund their recent renovation project.
In addition to the 750 square-feet of new space, the renovations also included a new fully accessible bathroom, new furniture, a circulation desk, sidewalks and curb improvements, roof repairs and a new digital kiosk.
“Since first elected to the State Assembly, I have often spoken about the importance of our community libraries. The Scotia Branch Library has long served residents of the Village, the Town of Glenville and Schenectady County and I know that the expansion and renovations are long overdue and welcomed by the community,” said Walsh. “I wish the Scotia Branch continued success as they put the final touches on this project and look forward to seeing the great benefits that it will bring to those who gather there.”
Walsh is a member of the Assembly Committee on Libraries and Education Technology.
