Walsh Counters Governor’s Proposed Tax Increase
A statement from Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston)
March 22, 2017
“Today, Gov. Cuomo once again illustrated why he doesn’t represent the everyday New Yorker. He has threatened a 26 percent income tax increase on the middle class if the Medicaid amendment is passed at the federal level. The governor’s vigorous ad campaigns cast him as a champion of the middle class, but his first reaction to federal proposals is to hike taxes on these residents. This knee-jerk reaction to raise taxes is revealing. The New York state budget is made up of $152 billion. I’m certain that there is funding in there for Medicaid, however, the governor would rather hike taxes to pay for it.”
