Walsh Congratulates Local Students on Competition Success
Last week Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I,Ref-Ballston) attended the 2017 Tech Valley Regional First Robotics Competition at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Team OxBE4 from Ballston Spa and The Rocketeers from Clifton Park, both from the 112th Assembly District, were winners in this past weekend’s competition between 36 teams from around the world.
Team OxBE4 won the 2017 Regional Chairman’s Award and the Industrial Safety Award, and will also advance to the finals. The Rocketeers won the Gracious Professionalism Award, and team member Rose Barra was honored with the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award.
“The Tech Valley Regional First Robotics Competition was an amazing experience,” said Walsh. “I had never attended anything like this event, so it was fascinating to learn the rules and regulations from members of my ‘home teams.’ There was an incredible spirit of comradery among the teams that I had not expected, but was thrilled to see.
“Each of the participating teams demonstrated great skill and passion in the field of robotics, and their hard work and commitment certainly paid off in the end. I am pleased to have had the opportunity to attend this event, and look forward to cheering on our local teams in the future!”
