Walsh Criticizes New Mask Guidance For Day Care And Day Camps

A statement from Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I-Ballston)

“As many New Yorkers celebrated the state’s adaptation of federal guidance that allows them to be mask free in most settings, children two years and older weren’t so lucky. The sudden directive that daycares and day camps require children to wear masks is an absolute nightmare for parents and childcare providers. Childcare providers have been working overtime throughout the duration of the pandemic to ensurethe children in their care have a safe place to be. As parents are returning to work and the school year comes to an end, the services provided by daycare and day camps are more important than ever. While the rest of us are moving forward to a more normal way of life, we should not allow these arbitrary directives to be put forward without explanation. All in all, this directive is not realistic and should be reversed immediately.”
