Assemblyman Ramos Supports Agreement to Create Real-Time Database for Tracking Dangerous Prescription Drugs
June 6, 2012
“The epidemic of prescription-drug abuse, doctor shopping and violent crimes involving highly addictive pain killers has led to the agreement between Governor Cuomo, the Assembly and Senate to create a real-time database to track prescriptions and prevent doctors from issuing additional, unauthorized prescriptions to people.
“The tragic deaths at pharmacies in both Medford and Seaford, along with the Federal Drug Administration’s recent arrest of nearly 100 prescription drug abuse suspects, including some medical professionals, shows just how widespread the problem really is in our community.”
“I look forward to putting this system in place as soon as possible.”
