Palmesano Calls for Passage of the ‘Fentanyl Fathers and Mothers Act’
Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C-Corning) joined Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R,C-Mohawk Valley and the Adirondacks), his assembly Minority colleagues and community activists to call for the passage of the “Fentanyl Fathers and Mothers Act” (A.8540), which he is a co-sponsor of. This would require the Department of Education to develop and implement a comprehensive Fentanyl Education, Awareness and Recognition Program for all schools in the state.
“Every death from fentanyl is one too many. Drug addiction and overdoses are not a political issue, they affect everyone and we, as legislators, have a duty to protect the children of this state. Education on fentanyl and awareness of the problem is one of the most powerful tools we have at our disposal. That is why I am proud to support this bill and urge my colleagues to move to pass it before the end of session,” said Palmesano.
