Palmesano Invites Second Amendment Advocates To Capitol, Launches Petition Promoting SAFE Act Repeal
Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) is inviting residents and Second Amendment supporters to a rally to repeal the SAFE Act, the controversial gun control law that has been maligned for infringing upon the rights of New Yorkers. The April 1st rally begins at 11:30 a.m. in West Capitol Park in Albany. In addition, Palmesano is inviting his constituents to advocate for their Second Amendment rights by signing a petition to repeal the NY SAFE Act.
“The SAFE Act was rushed through the legislature and signed into law by the governor a little over a year ago. This was done without any public hearings, input or comments from experts in law enforcement, local government or the mental health community,” said Palmesano. “Unfortunately, this law was not about keeping residents safe. For the governor, it was about rushing his agenda. Since that day, we continue to see and hear about the numerous problems with the SAFE Act, primarily that it violates the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens,” added Palmesano.
Residents seeking transportation assistance or general information regarding the rally can call (315) 277-2673.
Palmesano’s petition can be found on his New York State Assembly webpage. It invites constituents to signal their support for a full repeal of the SAFE Act. A link to the petition also can be accessed on his Facebook page.
“The April 1st rally and our “Repeal the SAFE Act” petition are opportunities for residents to continue to express their opposition to the ill-conceived law and the way it was passed. Citizens can show their support for the Second Amendment and a full repeal of the SAFE Act,” said Palmesano. “I look forward to seeing residents from around the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions in Albany on April 1st, and I welcome their support of our ‘Repeal the Safe Act’ petition.”
