Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) enjoyed a productive Agriculture Advisory meeting today with state Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball, state Sen. Tom O’Mara and dozens of local stakeholders in the industry. Palmesano thought it was critical for family farms to have an outlet to voice their concerns and share new ideas.

“I’m so appreciative that Commissioner Ball came to our district to listen to the challenges our farmers face and the new ideas they have to improve the industry,” said Palmesano. “I’m equally thankful to the members of my advisory committee for their continued participation and thoughtful input.”

Palmesano continued his call for needed statewide reforms.

“It is incredibly important that we work to reduce the tax and regulatory burden on our family-owned farmers so future generations can take over. More than 90 percent of farms in New York State are family owned. Agriculture is not only the number one industry in our district, but the number one industry in our state. We must be diligent in supporting our farmers,” Palmesano said.
