Palmesano Grateful For Dedicated Teachers, Marks Teacher Appreciation Week
A statement by Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning)
“Educators arrive at work each morning bearing one of the most significant responsibilities that we ask members of any profession to shoulder: the future.”
“Teachers are dedicated, they’re patient and they work tirelessly to empower our kids by nurturing skills that will allow them to lead productive lives. They teach our kids timeless lessons and expose them to new ideas. I am so thankful for their diligent efforts, and I encourage you to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week by expressing your thanks and appreciation to educators in your community.”
“In the Assembly, I will continue to fight for teachers. I know the journey of discovery we want our kids to enjoy as students is shepherded best by teachers whose lessons are shaped by their knowledge, experience and instincts and not by a senseless over-reliance on the standardized tests that are pushed by bureaucrats. Teachers deserve discretion. We need to empower our teachers to use their creativity and ingenuity in the classroom to unleash and spark the wisdom our kids need to be successful in the classroom and in life. They deserve to be treated like professionals. And, especially this week, they deserve our gratitude.”
