Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) was recently named Deputy Minority Whip of the Assembly Minority Conference by Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb. Kolb also tapped Palmesano to serve on two new key committees- Insurance and Ways and Means.

All legislation with fiscal implications, including the all-important budget bills that compromise the state’s spending plan, must pass through the Ways and Means Committee before reaching the floor.

“I want to thank Leader Kolb for his continued confidence and trust in me. I look forward to working with our Conference in this new leadership role to continue our focus on advocating for the right priorities and policies for the people of our state,” said Palmesano. “Our Conference is fighting for all the right things- tax and regulatory relief for manufacturers and small businesses to spur private sector investment and job creation, property tax and unfunded mandate relief for families, farmers and seniors, important investments in our local roads, bridges, culverts and water and sewer infrastructure systems, agriculture, schools, and libraries. And, most importantly, to ensure that the quality of care and quality of life of our most vulnerable New Yorkers, the developmentally disabled, and those direct support professionals who are responsible for providing that care are a top priority during this year’s  budget process,” concluded Palmesano.

Palmesano will continue to serve as the ranking Minority member of the Assembly Energy Committee. He also serves on the Assembly Corporations Committee and the Corrections Committee.
