Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) and his fellow members of the Conference of Italian-American State Legislators are announcing the availability of applications for their annual scholarship program.

Four scholarships will be awarded, each totaling $3,500. Two will be awarded based on academic achievement and two will be athletic scholarships.

“So many families are struggling to pay for college, and so many of our young people are saddled with burdensome student loan payments after they graduate. Scholarship can make higher education a less stressful reality for talented kids who have studied hard, impacted their communities and achieved great things.  I’m encouraging students in our district to apply. It can make a big difference, said Palmesano.

The deadline to apply is the close of business on Friday, March 29.  Students in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions can receive a scholarship application by contacting Palmesano’s office at (607) 776-9691.
