Area Lawmakers Sponsor Resolution Paying Tribute to Local Track and Field Champion Lily Hall
Dundee 8th grader, member of Watkins Glen Indoor Track Club captured national Triple Jump Championship earlier this year
Dundee, N.Y., May 14State Senator Tom OMara (R,C,I-Big Flats) and Assemblyman Phil Palmesano recently visited the Dundee Junior-Senior High School to help pay tribute to 8th-grader Lily Hall, who earlier year captured the 2019 USA Track and Field Indoor 13-14 Girls Triple Jump Championship as a member of the Watkins Glen Indoor Track Club.
Palmesano and Sharon Sitrin-Moore of Senator OMaras office, who represented the senator at the event, joined school administrators, faculty, and students, and Lilys family, to present her with an official Legislative Proclamation honoring the achievement.
The OMara-Palmesano proclamation (J1057/K264), unanimously approved by the Senate and Assembly, reads, in part, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and brought pride to their school and community In a sport such as the triple jump, which demands athletic prowess, speed and agility, Coaches Scott Shepardson, Joe Hober and Dennis Jemison worked hard to hone the skills of this champion, teaching this outstanding athlete lessons which will prove invaluable both in and out of the pit. In light of her recent accomplishments, Lily Hall has
brought honor and just pride to her club, school and community on the local, State and National level.

She is proof that hard work, dedication, and perseverance are the keys to success. We look forward to celebrating many of Lily's future accomplishments that are yet to come.
The 2019 USA Track and Field Indoor championships were held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, New York on March 17. Lilys outstanding Triple Jump of 10.58 meters captured the 13-14 Girls Championship.
