Seawright-Sponsored Election Reform Bill Passes Legislature

A1641 to require campaign finance information of certain candidates or committees to be filed on an electronic reporting system

Albany, New York – Assembly Member Rebecca A. Seawright announced that her election reform bill A1641 passed the Senate on Monday, May 20, 2019. The bill passed the Assembly on March 25, 2019 and will be delivered to the governor.

This legislation will streamline the filing of campaign financial disclosure reports by eliminating the $1,000 filing threshold at the State Board of Election to require all other state and local candidates and campaign committees to file at the State Board through an electronic reporting system.

“By streamlining campaign finance filings into one electronic reporting system, there will be more transparency and gr eater compliance for candidates running for statewide office. Voters should be able to see the contributions of all campaigns, big and small,” said Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright.
