Gray, Blankenbush, Walczyk Signal Support For Multi-Purpose Thousand Islands Events Center
Assemblyman Scott Gray (R-Watertown), Assemblyman Ken Blankenbush (R,C-Black River) and state Sen. Mark Walczyk (R,C-Watertown) are offering their support for construction of the proposed multi-purpose Thousand Islands Events Center in the town of Watertown. The proposed facility will be over 520,000 square feet and offer sporting activities, organized sporting events and special events like concerts to residents in the Thousand Islands and North Country.
Gray and Walczyk are both ranking Minority members of the state Senate and Assembly Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development committees.
“We believe the project is exciting for the prospects of recreation and entertainment in the North Country and certainly has potential to make our area a destination for events. At this stage of project proposal, we are supportive of their efforts to continue in materializing the Thousand Islands Events Center,” said Gray and Blankenbush.
“This project is exciting for our region and, at its best, wants to provide more healthy opportunities for our children. I wish the best of luck for this project and stand ready if there’s red tape that needs to be cut at the state level,” said Walczyk.
