Gray Encourages Public to Attend Virtual Hearing on Riverside Solar Project
Assemblyman Scott Gray (R-Watertown) is encouraging residents of Jefferson County to take part in an upcoming virtual public hearing hosted by the New York State Public Service Commission on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2025. The hearing will focus on Riverside Solar’s request to move forward with a proposed large-scale solar project in the Towns of Lyme and Brownville.
If approved, Riverside Solar would be authorized to build and operate a facility generating up to 100 megawatts of electricity. The certificate under review also confirms the company’s financial ability to complete the project and ensures local approvals are in place. The project would remain subject to conditions previously set by the state’s Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES).
The virtual hearing is a chance for local voices to be heard before a final decision is made. Members of the public can provide comments directly on the record, whether they support the project or have concerns about its impact.
“This project would significantly affect our communities in Lyme and Brownville, which is why residents need to make their voices heard,” said Gray. “I strongly encourage the residents to participate in this hearing and submit their comments. The input from our community will help ensure that the Public Service Commission fully understands our local perspective.”
