Hawley Supports Volunteer Emergency Services Tax Credit Legislation: “Finally, We All Agree”

After previous inaction, Assembly advances a proposal recognizing the sacrifices of volunteer firefighters and ambulance workers across New York state

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C-Batavia) spoke today in support of Assembly bill A.6790, which will provide tax credits for volunteer firefighters and volunteer ambulance workers across New York state. This bill would have contained $900 more in funding if the original proposal (A.1064) hadn’t been held in committee by the Majority earlier in the week.

Hawley spoke in favor of the bill during debate and said the measure is an important step toward supporting the volunteers who dedicate countless hours to protecting their communities.

“As a life member of the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, I would like to applaud all of us who recognize the sacrifices of those who volunteer to protect our people as well as our properties,” Hawley said. “We need to have this type of recognition and help in their everyday lives as the affordability crisis hits this state. Finally, we are all in agreement.”
