Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) recently presented the new Orleans County Veterans Service Agency Director, Earl Schmidt, with an American Flag and New York State Flag to display on the agency’s flagpole that was donated by Hawley and former Sen. George Maziarz several years ago. Hawley is a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserves and is also the Ranking Minority member on the Assembly’s Veterans’ Affairs Committee.

“As a veteran and local leader, I was proud to congratulate Director Schmidt on his new position with the Orleans County Veterans Service Agency,” Hawley said. “The organization provides many important services for local veterans and their families, and they deserve the utmost support. I wish Director Schmidt and Mary Jo Syck the best of luck in their endeavors, and I know they will make Orleans County proud.”
