Assemblyman Charles D. Fall and Senator Diane J. Savino Secure $1.6 Million for Corporal Thompson Park
Staten Island – Assemblyman Charles D. Fall (D-Richmond) and Senator Diane J. Savino (D-Richmond) announced that they secured $1.6 million for renovations to Corporal Thompson Park.
Corporal Thompson Park is home to many West Brighton community events such as: ACASI’s annual soccer tournaments, Hurricanes football tournaments, Brothers Care Inc. & North Shore United’s egg hunts, Harmony Day, and many more. This funding will make necessary repairs to the park for the community.
Assemblyman Charles D. Fall: “I am proud that Senator Savino and I were able to secure $1.6 million for Corporal Thompson Park. This park is the heart of West Brighton – from events that give back to the community to being the home of the Hurricane Football team, this is where it all happens. This is where our kids learn how to play and even go on to top colleges or make it into the NFL. I am happy that we are able to make sure that Corporal Thompson will remain that place for another generation of kids.”
Senator Diane J. Savino: “So proud to join with my colleague, Assemblyman Charles Fall, to deliver 1.6 million dollars to transform Corporal Thompson Park. This park has served the community of West Brighton for decades, hundreds of young people have played here, building teams friendships that have lasted a lifetime. This money will guarantee that it continues to be that place for generations to come. Together with our new NYC Mayor Eric Adams and his Parks Department, I am confident we will see this project completed quickly and see the kids running drills before long.”
