Today, Assemblyman Charles D. Fall (D-Richmond) announces, he was able to secure state funding in the amount of $100,000 for field lighting upgrades at Snug Harbor Little League, located at 85 Snug Harbor Road, Staten Island, NY.
Snug Harbor Little League has proudly been serving North Shore families since 1964. SHLL offers Little League baseball for boys ages 4-12 years and softball for girls up to age 16 in both the fall and the spring seasons. With over 50 teams this year, SHLL will give hundreds of Staten Island’s North Shore youth an opportunity to learn valuable life-long skills.
The new president of the SHLL, Anthony Varvaro, a product of Curtis High School, was drafted by the Seattle Mariners and successfully pitched for the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox.
“It is always an honor to continue funding youth programs that promote leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Like so many youth programs here on Staten Island, Snug Harbor Little League builds upon strong foundations for our youth’s future,” said Assemblyman Charles D. Fall.
“We would like to thank Assemblyman Fall for his generous allocation. It has been a long time coming, and we reached out to a lot of elected officials, and with one phone call the Assemblyman was proactive and gave us money we couldn’t even imagine. This would be a huge thing for the little league baseball teams on the North Shore.
We went from playing two days a week during the fall season, to now playing seven days a week because of the Assemblyman’s contribution for the lights. The Assemblyman made a dream come true, and now we have a higher number of enrollments and we offer a better opportunity for kids on the North Shore.” said Snug Harbor Little League, President, Anthony Varvaro
