Assemblyman Charles D. Fall Goes into Action for NYCHA Residents in Mariner’s Harbor
Over the holiday weekend, Assemblyman Charles D. Fall (D-Richmond/Manhattan) received several calls from NYCHA tenants located in Mariner’s Harbor that they were without cooking gas in their residents.
Earlier this year, nearly 100 families in the NYCHA- subsidized Stapleton Houses went without gas for more than eight months. Assemblyman Fall’s persistence with the city agency finally got the months-long problem resolved, earlier than anticipated.
This weekend Assemblyman Fall, and his team went to check on the residents impacted by the gas outage to ensure tenants had an alternative for cooking by giving out free electric skillets to residents in need. After speaking with the city agency, the Assemblyman was assured that the problem is being addressed and there will be an immediate resolution.
“Once again, we have seen a blatant failure by NYCHA to assure that it’s residents receive the basic needs ensuring a quality of life standard.
I want to make this message very clear. What happened in Stapleton is not going to happen here in Mariner’s Harbor. I will remain vigilant with NYCHA to rectify this problem and make sure these, and other problems are addressed to avoid future housing pitfalls. We need to be proactive, not reactive when it comes to the basic needs of our residents,” said Assemblyman Charles D. Fall.
