Assemblymember Lavine Funds Improvements to Softball Field for North Shore Schools

North Shore, LI – A vastly improved softball field in the North Shore School District is ready for action thanks to a $250,000 State grant secured by Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore, LI). The funding enabled the district to make major upgrades to the field which is located on the grounds of North Shore Middle School in Glen Head. Among the enhancements are new bleachers, a new backstop, fresh sod, safety lights, and a new drainage system. After some delays relating to the COVID pandemic, work began on the project over the summer and is in the final stages of completion. With the high demand to have and maintain quality athletic facilities, school officials say they’re extremely pleased with the outcome and look forward to finally putting the field into use in the spring.

“I am thrilled to have been able to help the North Shore School District renovate this field,” Lavine said. “The changes are a vast improvement and it won’t be long before kids are back out there competing and having fun,” he added.
