Lavine Rises Above Politics to Help Constituents

Glen Cove, New York – Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore) is showing his actions supersede partisan politics when it comes to doing what’s right for his constituents. Lavine secured a $250,000 Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) grant for the City of Glen Cove’s well project on Seaman Road. The project, which follows the opening of other wells in recent years, is part of a larger effort by the city to remain autonomous over its own water sources. Lavine issued the following statement about his efforts to ensure Glen Cove residents have the clean water they deserve:

“I believe that there is such a thing as political science. The philosophy being that we must do the most to benefit our people. It makes absolutely no difference to me whether they live in municipalities with elected of different parties. However, I find it very troubling that some of my political colleagues believe in demagoguery, putting their own private interests above the public good.

Just look at what’s going on in some of the storm-ravaged parts of the country where people have been so influenced by these demagogues that they’re threatening meteorologists and the very FEMA workers who are dedicated to helping them.

We are doomed if we live in the world of fantasy. We must meet the real-life challenges that are always presenting themselves. We all need to believe in political science and that is the reason why I have directed millions of dollars to governments that are not controlled by my political party. Losing control politically doesn’t matter. All that truly matters is that we serve the people.”
