Roslyn Heights, NY – With the new school year upon us, it’s a whole new ballgame for student athletes at Roslyn High School. Thanks in part to a $250,000 grant secured by Assemblymember Charles Lavine (D-North Shore), the Roslyn School District was able to significantly enhance its sports complex on the school’s campus. The project includes a brand-new multipurpose field that can be used for baseball, soccer, and marching band activities; seven new tennis courts; and shot put and discus areas. There are also many upgrades to the complex infrastructure, including ADA-accessible ramps, stadium lighting, landscaped plantings leading to expanded upper parking, a donor paver plaza, and new concrete walkways connecting all fields. The grant also helped cover the cost of classroom renovations.

Lavine was pleased to have been invited to meet with Roslyn School District administrators back in 2024, when capital grant funding was first requested and plans for the project were laid out.After Lavine secured the grant, his office fast-tracked its approval, enabling construction to get started right away.

“Supporting public education is one of the most important things we can do as elected officials, and I am therefore very pleased to be able to help Roslyn Schools provide its students with a state-of-the-art sports complex that will be used for generations to come,” Lavine said.
