Assemblyman Charles D. Lavine (D – North Shore LI) is truly grateful for the outpouring of generosity from residents who took the time to stop by his District Office with vitally needed items for those living in the aftermath of a devastating Hurricane that left behind massive destruction to Puerto Rico.
“We collected close to 1000 pounds and several big bags of non-perishable food, baby diapers, cleaning supplies, bug spray, personal hygiene items, pet food and several cases of water.” Lavine said. “Special thanks to my staff that made the relief effort such a success.”
Long Island Cares, Inc. The Harry Chapin Food Bank, made a special pick up at Assemblymember Lavine’s district office in Glen Cove. All donations for Puerto Rico will be transported from Long Island Cares headquarters, in Hauppauge by the National Guard and delivered to Camp Smith. The distribution of goods to Puerto Rico is through Governor Cuomo’s efforts.
“Long Island Cares does phenomenal work. Beyond their full time year round food drive efforts for Long Islanders they took on relief efforts for our fellow citizens in Puerto Rico too. This is humanitarianism at its best.” Lavine stated.
