Lavine Holds Community Safety Forum Alongside County Executive Laura Curran and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder

Plainview, New York – Assemblymember Charles D. Lavine (D-Plainview) alongside Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, and County Legislator Arnold Drucker organized a safety community forum for the residents of Plainview in light of the recent acts of violence in Plainview.

“I wanted to put together a community safety forum for the people of Plainview because their safety and security concern has always been and will always be my first priority,” said Lavine. “The people of Plainview deserve to address their concerns and I wanted to create a platform where they would get that chance.”

County Executive Laura Curran: “As County Executive, my number one focus is the safety of our residents. We have record crime lows in Nassau County because of our commitment to building close police-community relationships, and these public safety forums are vital to fostering those connections.”

Legislator Arnold Drucker: “Plainview is a wonderful, safe place to live and raise a family, and thanks to the outstanding work of the Nassau County Police Department, it has been for generations,” Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) said. “However, senseless acts of gun violence have shocked the consciences of many residents in recent months and prompted questions that must be addressed, and tonight’s community forum is the first step in that essential process. I thank County Executive Curran, Police Commissioner Ryder, Senator Gaughran and Assemblyman Lavine for their ongoing commitment to protecting all of Nassau County’s residents from the scourge of gun violence.”

Patrick Ryder, Nassau County Police Commissioner: “Nassau County is experiencing historical decreases in major crime, thus making Nassau County one of the safest suburban counties in the United States. The work that law enforcement does every day combined with our community outreach has helped us excel in this respect and I thank our residents for that. We will keep moving forward with our communities as they are the eyes and ears of our neighborhoods. If you are ever in need of Police assistance, never hesitate to call 911 as one of the goals of the NCPD is to be service orientated”.
