Ra Participates in Joint Legislative Budget Hearing on Local Government

A Statement From Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square).

“"During the Joint Legislative Budget Hearing on Local Government this morning, I reiterated my opposition to Gov. Hochul's draconian zoning proposal which would fundamentally change Nassau County. The transit-oriented re-zoning requirement that would impose a density of 50 units per acre within 1/2 mile of Long Island Railroad stations would encompass the vast majority of some villages. Further, permitting the governor’s hand-picked judges to override local zoning decisions doesn’t respect the role of our locally-elected supervisors and mayors who know their communities better than Albany bureaucrats. I urge the governor to work with our partners in local government, not against them.”
