Ra Welcomes Elmont Student Musicians To The Capitol
Assemblyman Edward Ra (21st Assembly District) today welcomed students from the Elmont Union Free School District to the Capitol as part of the 39th Annual Music In Our Schools Month. Ra noted that the success of this event has helped it evolve into a month-long national observance and reflection on the importance of music education. This year’s theme is “Music Lasts a Lifetime.”
“The Elmont String Chamber Ensemble gave a wonderful performance today at the Empire State Plaza,” said Ra. “Their talent, dedication, and countless hours of practice have made these musicians the outstanding ensemble they are today. The teachers at Elmont Union are truly committed to music education for every student in the district. It is with great pride that I welcome the director, Xavier Rodriguez, and all the students today as they perform for this important annual tradition.”
