Ra Appointed To Assembly Ways & Means Committee
Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) announced today that he has been appointed to the Assembly’s Ways & Means Committee, which has the crucial job of reviewing and voting on legislation that has a fiscal impact and influences how New York spends tax dollars.
“Too often, New York’s budget process is ripe with secrecy and citizens are unaware of how their tax dollars are being spent and that is unacceptable,” Ra said. “It is important that we use public money to benefit the public good and not the private interest. We should be focusing on reducing our tax burden, fully funding our schools, rebuilding our infrastructure and creating jobs instead of funding tax breaks for favored industries. I will use this new position as an opportunity to protect the public purse and instill responsible spending in our state.”
Ra already serves as Deputy Minority Whip as well as on the Codes, Health, Transportation, Education and Higher Education Committees.
