Ra Proclaims October German American Heritage Month

Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) was happy to present a resolution proclaiming October as German American Heritage Month to members of the Plattduetsche Volksfest Vereen at the Plattduetsche Park Biergarten on Sunday, September 30. To signify the start of the Oktoberfest season, Ra served as an honorary Burgermeister and tapped the ceremonial keg.

“It is great to see such pride our community has for their heritages,” said Ra. “While I myself might not be of German descent, I appreciate the enthusiasm Germans have for their heritage and desire to celebrate traditions such as Oktoberfest. I am proud to have the opportunity to present this proclamation to members of the Plattduetsche Volksfest Vereen at the Plattduetsche Park Biergarten. I look forward to celebrating and learning more about our community’s melting pot of heritages for many years to come.”
