Ra Thanks Local Vets With “Heroes for Heroes” Event

Recently, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) provided over 60 takeout meals to local veterans and their families during his annual “Heroes for Heroes” event. It was a socially distanced variant of his annual veterans’ BBQ. Ra, his office staff and volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 93 distributed the meals outside of VFW Post 2718 in Franklin Square.

“It’s so important for us to show our veterans we care about them, that we’re grateful for their service and we have their backs. This was a small way for us to show our appreciation, and I hope they enjoyed it,” said Ra.

Each attendee received a complimentary Subway hero, chips, cookie and a beverage. Red Mango provided an Italian ice.

“I want to thank Subway Restaurant 7515 in Franklin Square and Red Mango for partnering with us. I’m very appreciative for all the help from the scouts from Troop 93 and for VFW Post 2718 for hosting us. I also want to thank Officer Caggiano and Officer Ojeda from the 5th Precinct POP Unit for assisting with traffic flow. This was a great team effort,” said Ra.
