Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz sent a third letter in a week to Peter Kalikow, Chairman of the MTA NYC Transit. Assemblyman Dinowitz requested that the MTA take action to reverse the recent deterioration of express bus service. The two newest complaints that Dinowitz’ office has been receiving about the express bus are the cuts in services to seniors and the lack of safety on the buses.

"I have indicated in two recent letters to you about the substandard service of the express buses since the MTA took it over. My office has received one complaint after another. Just as I had feared the MTA is now reducing its services to my constituents and putting their lives in danger," said Dinowitz.

Seniors using the express bus service can no longer use their senior metro-card until 10:00 a.m. and they can not return until 8:00 p.m. Under the Liberty Lines service senior citizens were able to use their metro-cards starting at 9:00 a.m. and were able to use their card to return home at 7:00 return. Assemblyman Dinowitz’ office has received numerous complaints that while taking the express bus # 7852 on Sunday March 7, 2005 at 4:20 p.m. back from Manhattan, they were told that all the riders had to be on the left hand side of the bus. The MTA should not allow buses to be in use that pose a danger to its riders. Dinowitz asked that the MTA look into this matter in a timely manner.
