In a letter to Peter S. Kalikow, Chairman of the MTA New York City Transit, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz demanded increased shuttle bus service between 225th and 231st street.

Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz stated, "The renovation at the West 231st Street 1 & 9 subway station began with the understanding that subway passengers would receive prompt bus service from 225th street. The lack of timely service is a particular problem at peak hours, and has been a major inconvenience for commuters. I request that the MTA increase the number of buses serving the West 225th street stop to more accurately reflect the volume of traffic as well as extend the hours of the bus shuttle."

The Assemblyman also wrote in the letter, "Many of my constituents work long days and do not come home until after 7 p.m. Commuters that arrive after the shuttle hours are left to wait for the BX 7 or 20, which do not run frequently and are often overcrowded. An unnecessary extra half hour is put on an already long commute.

"The MTA has failed once again to meet the needs of Bronx commuters. It’s outrageous that commuters are having their precious time wasted away by the MTA’s lack of planning. A 24/7 bus shuttle program, along with extra buses, are needed during peak hours," said Assemblyman Dinowitz.
