Statement from Assemblyman Dinowitz on the Rent Guidelines Board
June 21, 2013
The Rent Guidelines Board has once again proven itself to be a rubber stamp for apartment building owners. The latest rent increases are excessive, unjustified and exceed the inflation rate. Housing is becoming increasingly unaffordable for the middle class, working people and the less affluent. Most landlords already reap large profits and don't need a further boost by the Rent Guidelines Board, all of whose members are appointed by the mayor. I hope the next administration proves to be less biased in favor of landlords.
