Dinowitz Calls for Expanded Public Access to Sid Aurgarten Field in North Riverdale
Bronx - In a letter to Bronx Parks Commissioner Hector Aponte, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) called on the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to expand public access to the newly reopened Sid Aurgarten Field in North Riverdale. Although home to dozens of little league games since its reopening, the field has been locked and inaccessible to the public at all other times.
“I understand the need to protect the field as the city spent a large amount of money in renovations, but the public deserves access to the field as well,” Dinowitz said. “Considering how long the renovation process took and how much it cost, I think it is only fair that the people in the community who have waited patiently for the work to be done should be able to enjoy this beautiful new field.”
The Department of Parks and Recreation has yet to respond to the request.
