Assemblyman Dinowitz Receives Perfect Mark from Top Environmental Advocacy Group

Bronx, NY – Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz announced that the EPL/Environmental Advocates awarded him a perfect score in its 2016 Scorecard. The annual report compiled by one of New York’s top environmental advocacy groups rates New York State Assembly Members and Senators based on their support and votes for certain pieces of legislation. The Environmental Advocates of New York is one of the first organizations in the nation formed to advocate for the future of a state’s environment and the health of its citizens. Through lobbying, advocacy, coalition building, citizen education, and policy development, EPL/Environmental Advocates has been New York’s environmental conscience more than for 45 years. "Throughout my time in office I have always made the environment one of my top legislative priorities, said Assemblyman Dinowitz. “I am grateful to the Environmental Advocates of New York for recognizing my commitment to the environment and sensible legislation to protect it. I am incredibly proud of my record on environmental issues including my votes for the Child Safe Products Act, the NYS Climate and Community Protection Act, Hoosick’s Health law, and of course, my sponsorship of the bill closing the Hazardous Waste Loophole. As long as I am in office I will continue making the environment a top priority of mine, and I look forward to working with EPL/Environmental Advocates of New York to create” Peter Iwanowicz, Executive Director of EPL/Environmental Advocates said, “We applaud Assemblyman Dinowitz for his exceptional record on environmental and public health issues in 2016. His leadership was critical to Assembly passage of the nation’s most aggressive climate action legislation, and other measures to reduce toxic chemicals and pollution in our environment." Attached are two photos from earlier this year of Assemblyman Dinowitz with P.S. 94 students who wrote essays on the environment for a school project. After receiving the letters, the Assemblyman met with them for a town hall meeting at the school where the eager students shared their concerns about the environmental they will grow up in.
